NLS Leadership Symposium

Symposium series image
The 2021 National Leaders' Summit has again been revisioned due to COVID-19. This event is now offered as a series of three symposiums. Each symposium will centre on a topic: leadership, research and governance.

The NLS Leadership Symposium will see you join with key leaders of CSA member schools from across the nation for the exciting launch of the CSA Leadership Framework.

Join with us for the launch of this framework and hear of the ways in which the framework can assist in your school’s leadership development programs and be inspired by the future roll out of further resources which will specifically support the various stages of leadership, from early career through to those who are establishing themselves as proficient or regarded as highly accomplished leaders.

Event Information

The Leadership Symposium is ideally suited for Executive/Leadership Teams, as well as middle managers and emerging leaders. CSA has provided a group rate discount to ensure that schools can gather together with their leadership teams to optimise engagement during the Symposium.

Registration at this event will include a published copy of CSA's new resource: CSA Leadership Framework: 12 Leadership Practices for Educational Leaders*.

Schools gathering with their leadership teams will be able to work together during the break-out sessions. There will also be a range of virtual break-out rooms for those who are unable to gather with their leadership teams. For our smaller member schools in States/Territories who are not currently in lockdown, we will connect with you should you wish to gather in person with other members in your region. Please ensure you indicate your preference as you go through the Registration process.

* Please note that this resource will be posted to schools upon registration. CSA will be relying on Australia Post for delivery of the resource in time for the event.

Speakers

Your Host: Dr. Rob Loe

Rob has been serving as the Executive Officer, VIC/TAS since May 2020. He has a background in teaching, school leadership and research. Rob believes passionately that a Christian school’s ethos cannot be divorced from the outcomes it seeks for its students (which must be more than academic). That ethos should make a deeply positive impact on the day-to-day lived reality of corridors and classrooms. It is the most powerful form of witness from a school. Rob has a national portfolio role that reflects his significant experience and research interests: Organisational Culture and Community Development.

Andy Wolfe

Andy Wolfe is the Deputy Chief Education Officer for the Church of England. He oversees the work of the Church of England Foundation for Educational Leadership – cefel.org.uk - through its leadership programmes, networks and research which work with thousands of school leaders across the UK. Andy runs extensive international leadership networks which are leading to exciting collaborations between a range of key Christian schools associations, including CSA, and has also written Flourishing Together – A Christian Vision for Students, Educators and Schools (2021) with Dr Lynn Swaner from ACSI USA.

Dr. Darren Iselin

Darren has extensive leadership experience within Christian education in both Australian and international contexts and has served in a wide range of CEO/executive and senior leadership roles within both K-12 schooling and higher education sectors. He is currently Director of Research and Innovation with Christian Schools Australia (CSA) and also is the Coordinator for the Cardus Education Survey Australia Project. Darren has completed extensive formal study, including doctoral studies through the University of Queensland where his PhD explored “How Principals are cultivating Sustainable School Cultures Within Christian Schools During Changing Times”. Darren’s thesis was awarded the Grassie-Basset prize for best thesis in Educational Administration from The University of Queensland and also won the Research in Educational Leadership Management Award from the Australian Council of Educational Leaders (ACEL).
