Join with participants from all across the nation at the NLS Research Symposium for the launch of the National Report: Christian Schools Australia Community Profile: Parent Choice and Christian Schooling.

Join with participants from all across the nation at the Research Symposium.

The Research Symposium will launch and showcase the national reports and state-based findings of CSA’s third important piece of national research, The Christian Schools Community Profile (CSCP): Parent Survey. This research provides unprecedented understanding and insights regarding the parents that select Christian schools for their children. This comprehensive national study, involving 100 CSA member schools from across the nation and over 8,500 respondents, investigated the perceptions and priorities of our Christian school families, as well as their demographic profiles and the way they engage with their school communities.

This presentation will feature key national and state-based findings relating to school choice, parent satisfaction, parent engagement and the detailed demographic profiles of parents who choose Christian schools for their children.

The symposium will also have Dr Lynn Swaner (ACSI’s Chief Strategy  Officer) present on the findings of the ACSI Flourishing School Culture Model Australia Pilot. You will not want to miss out on the important implications that both of these reports have for Christian schools in Australia.

Event Information

The Research Symposium is ideally suited for those who are required to provide answers to questions such as, "who are we as a school?" and "who is our school serving?" Such roles might include the school's business manager, registrar, marketing staff, Principals and Board members. CSA has provided a group rate discount to ensure that schools can gather together with their teams to optimise engagement during the Symposium.

Registration at this event will include a printed copy of the recently released ACSI Flourishing School Culture Model Australia Pilot Report, as well as a PDF file of the slides presented from the recent research project.* The ACSI 2021 Australia Pilot report provides an overview of the instrument design and data analysis, the Flourishing Schools Culture Model, the 2021 Australia pilot results, and understanding how the FSCI can be used in leading school-level change.

Schools gathering with their leadership teams will be able to work together during the break-out sessions. There will also be a range of virtual break-out rooms for those who are unable to gather with their leadership teams. Please ensure you indicate your preference of breakout room as you go through the Registration process.

It is our intention to record this event. All registrants will be provided with this link in a post-event email communication.

* Please note that this resource will be posted to schools upon registration. CSA will be relying on Australia Post for delivery of the resource in time for the event. Slides from the presentation will be sent via email post-event.

Speakers

Your Host: Dr. Rob Loe

Rob has been serving as the Executive Officer, VIC/TAS since May 2020. He has a background in teaching, school leadership and research. Rob believes passionately that a Christian school’s ethos cannot be divorced from the outcomes it seeks for its students (which must be more than academic). That ethos should make a deeply positive impact on the day-to-day lived reality of corridors and classrooms. It is the most powerful form of witness from a school. Rob has a national portfolio role that reflects his significant experience and research interests: Organisational Culture and Community Development.

Dr. Lynn Swaner

Dr. Lynn Swaner is the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at ACSI, where she leads initiatives and develops strategies to address compelling questions and challenges facing Christian education. Prior to joining ACSI she served as a Christian school administrator and a graduate professor of education. Dr. Swaner serves as a Cardus Senior Fellow and is the lead editor or co-author of a number of books, including Flourishing Together: A Christian Vision for Students, Educators, and Schools (forthcoming from W.B. Eerdmans, November 2021); MindShift: Catalyzing Change in Christian Education; PIVOT: New Directions for Christian Education; and Bring It to Life: Christian Education and the Transformative Power of Service-Learning. She received her EdD from Teachers College, Columbia University, in New York City.

Dr. Darren Iselin

Darren has extensive leadership experience within Christian education in both Australian and international contexts and has served in a wide range of CEO/executive and senior leadership roles within both K-12 schooling and higher education sectors. He is currently Director of Research and Innovation with Christian Schools Australia (CSA) and also is the Coordinator for the Cardus Education Survey Australia Project. Darren has completed extensive formal study, including doctoral studies through the University of Queensland where his PhD explored “How Principals are cultivating Sustainable School Cultures Within Christian Schools During Changing Times”.
