The masterclass consists of two sessions covering: Flourishing Schools and Teaching for Engagement. If you were unable to attend this event, you can purchase an on-demand viewing of the streamed content.

The masterclasses will cover two sessions, "Just Teaching" with Dr. Jon Eckert and "Flourishing Together" with Dr. Lynn Swaner and Andy Wolfe.
Masterclass Session 1: Just Teaching with Dr. Jon Eckert
From his book ‘Just Teaching’, Dr Eckert will explore how great teaching requires addressing feedback, engagement, and well-being (FEW) for every student. Jon will specifically explore how to support the well-being of students and educators in life-giving ways based on evidence of what really works in teaching and will identify four key components of engagement and practical ways to deepen student and educator engagement within contemporary classroom contexts.
Masterclass Session 2: Flourishing Together with Dr. Lynn Swaner and Andy Wolfe
Drawing from their excellent book ‘Flourishing Together: A Christian Vision for Students, Educators and Schools’, Lynn and Andy will present a masterclass on what it means to Flourish together in relationships with students, colleagues and communities. Their interactive session will follow an overview of the Flourishing Schools Research, specifically: Flourishing Together: Deepening Engagement with Our Students; Flourishing Educators: Deepening Connection with Our Colleagues; and, Flourishing Schools: Deepening Relationship with Our Communities.
Guest Speaker: Dr. Jon Eckert
Dr. Jonathan Eckert is the Copple Professor of Educational Leadership at Baylor University. He taught outside of Chicago and Nashville for 12 years. After completing his doctorate at Vanderbilt University in 2008, he served at the U.S. Department of Education in both the Bush and Obama administrations on teaching quality issues. He has won multiple teaching awards in higher education and is the author of three Corwin books: Just Teaching, Leading Together, The novice Advantage, as well numerous other articles and books.
Guest Speaker: Dr. Lynn Swaner
Dr. Lynn Swaner is the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at Association of Christian Schools International, where she leads initiatives and develops strategies to address compelling questions and challenges facing Christian education. Dr. Swaner serves as a Cardus Senior Fellow as well as a non-resident scholar at the Center for School Leadership at Baylor University. She is the co-author or editor of numerous books on Christian education, including Flourishing Together: A Christian Vision for Students, Educators, and Schools; Future Ready: Innovative Missions and Models in Christian Education; and MindShift: Catalyzing Change in Christian Education, as well as a number of peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters on education. Prior to joining ACSI, she served as a school leader at a large K-12 Christian school in New York and held a post as a graduate professor of education at Long Island University. Dr. Swaner obtained her doctorate in Organization and Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University, in New York City and is completing a Diploma in Strategy and Innovation at Saïd Business School of the University of Oxford.
Guest Speaker: Andy Wolfe
Andy Wolfe is the Executive Director of Education, Church of England, UK. He oversees the programs, networks and research of the Church of England Foundation for Educational Leadership, working with thousands of school leaders across the UK. He is committed to combining rich theological reflection with evidence-informed approaches to improving teaching, learning and leadership in schools. He has authored many of the Church of England’s educational leadership resources, including pioneering the ‘Called, Connected, Committed’ leadership framework, which has led to co-writing similar international frameworks in Australia (with CSA) and Canada (with Christian Schools Canada). He has also co-written ‘Flourishing Together: A Christian Vision for Students, Educators and Schools’ with Dr Lynn Swaner from ACSI. Andy also oversees the Church of England’s ‘Growing Faith’ national work in relation to faith development in schools, churches and households, the Archbishops’ Young Leaders Award, a range of national policy briefs and the SIAMS national inspection framework for the 4674 Church of England schools.
Co-Host: Dr. Darren Iselin
Darren has extensive leadership experience within Christian education in both Australian and international contexts and has served in a wide range of CEO/executive and senior leadership roles within both K-12 schooling and higher education sectors. He is currently Director of Research and Innovation with Christian Schools Australia (CSA) and also is the Coordinator for the Cardus Education Survey Australia Project. Darren has completed extensive formal study, including doctoral studies through the University of Queensland where his PhD explored “How Principals are cultivating Sustainable School Cultures Within Christian Schools During Changing Times”.
Co Host: Dr. Daniel Pampuch
Daniel has over 25 years’ experience in Christian Education. His role spans political advocacy, governance, strategic planning, resource development and service provision. His role centres on assisting schools to retain their Christian distinctive and missional focus, as well as guiding them on pathways to further maturity as ministries and centres of educational excellence. Daniel has served on a range of state and national educational boards and committees. Currently, he serves on the Global council of ACSI which supports 24,000 schools globally. Daniel has fellowships with the Governance Institute of Australia and Australian Institute of Management. He is a member of the Australian College of Educational Leaders and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
