As you can appreciate, this event is coming together quite quickly and information will be published here as soon as we can. For now, check out the sections below for everything you need to know about the NLS Roadshow - QLD.

Event Information

We will be conducting the NLS Roadshow - QLD on two of the original days of the national NLS event. We have rearranged the program to suit a two-day format, with keynote sessions, workshops, panel discussions and time for collaborative conversations on rich and relevant topics. The overall event information for the roadshow is outlined below:

Dates: Thursday, 12 August to Friday, 13 August 2021

Venue: The Pullman International Hotel, Cairns

Cost: $395 +GST

Inclusions: All conference sessions and materials, all conference catering for both days (incl. morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea), conference dinner on the Thursday night (incl. 2-crse meal and a welcome drink).

Airport: The Cairns Airport is approximately 8km from the conference venue and depending on traffic, approximately a 15minute drive.

Speakers

Below is a list of our great speaker lineup to be involved in our Roadshow events. You will notice some of our speakers are 'international', these speakers (plus some who are unable to be with us) have curated content specifically for this event and these sessions will be facilitated by CSA staff.

Andy Wolfe

Deputy Chief Education Officer – Leadership Development, Church of England, UK

Andy Wolfe is the Deputy Chief Education Officer (Leadership Development) for the Church of England, which oversees around 4,700 schools nationally, including a significant proportion of academies. Having been a secondary senior leader for many years, Andy now leads the Church of England Foundation for Educational Leadership which provides leadership programmes, networks and research, focused on the way that vision is put into practice.

Dr. Darren Iselin

Director of Research and Innovation, CSA

Darren has extensive leadership experience within Christian education in both Australian and international contexts and has served in a wide range of CEO/executive and senior leadership roles within both K-12 schooling and higher education sectors. He is currently Director of Research and Innovation with Christian Schools Australia (CSA) and also is the Coordinator for the Cardus Education Survey Australia Project. Darren has completed extensive formal study, including doctoral studies through the University of Queensland where his PhD explored “How Principals are cultivating Sustainable School Cultures Within Christian Schools During Changing Times”. Darren’s thesis was awarded the Grassie-Basset prize for best thesis in Educational Administration from The University of Queensland and also won the Research in Educational Leadership Management Award from the Australian Council of Educational Leaders (ACEL).

Dr. Lynn Swaner

Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer, ACSI

Dr. Lynn Swaner is the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at ACSI, where she leads initiatives and develops strategies to address compelling questions and challenges facing Christian education. Prior to joining ACSI she served as a Christian school administrator and a graduate professor of education. Dr. Swaner serves as a Cardus Senior Fellow and is the lead editor or co-author of a number of books, including Flourishing Together: A Christian Vision for Students, Educators, and Schools (forthcoming from W.B. Eerdmans, November 2021); MindShift: Catalyzing Change in Christian Education; PIVOT: New Directions for Christian Education; and Bring It to Life: Christian Education and the Transformative Power of Service-Learning. She received her EdD from Teachers College, Columbia University, in New York City.

Dr. Daniel Pampuch

Chief Executive Officer, CSA

Dr Daniel Pampuch was appointed CEO of Christian Schools Australia in January 2017. His role spans political advocacy, governance, strategic planning, resource development and service provision. His role centres on assisting schools to retain their Christian distinctive and missional focus, as well as guiding them on pathways to further maturity as ministries and centres of educational excellence. Daniel has over 25 years’ experience in Christian Education and most recently served as the Schools Commissioner for the Uniting Church in Australia. Prior to this appointment Daniel was the Executive Principal of CREST Education, an educational precinct in the south-east Melbourne. Daniel has served on a range of state and national educational boards and committees. Currently he serves on the Global council of ACSI which supports 24,000 schools globally. Daniel is married to Tanya and has two sons who attend a Christian school on the Gold Coast.

Dr. Brian Harris

Founding Director, Avenir

Dr Brian Harris is a sought-after speaker, teacher, leader and writer. A widely respected theologian, after 17 years as principal of Vose Seminary, he recently became the founding director of the AVENIR Leadership Institute, an initiative of the Carey Group committed to fostering leaders who will make a positive impact on the world. While leading the Institute, Brian continues to do some part time teaching at the Vose Campus of Morling College, is a Director of the Australian College of Theology, and a Distinguished International Visiting Scholar of Spurgeon’s College, London. His book, The Tortoise Usually Wins: Biblical Reflections on Quiet Leadership (Paternoster, 2013) continues to empower people who don’t naturally see themselves as leaders, whilst his most recent book, Why Christianity is Probably True (Paternoster, 2020) is helping to shift the tone of the discussion about faith.

Jon Bergmann

Avenir

Jon is a sought-after speaker in the areas of theology, cultural thought and leadership development. With extensive experience in learning and teaching across both the tertiary and vocational education sector, Jon brings a diverse perspective to his work and communication.

Accommodation

The conference cost does not include accommodation, however the Pullman has offered a discounted, room only, rate of $174, per night to conference attendees.

You will need to make contact with the Pullman via their Group Reservations team on 07 4050 2152 or via email [email protected] no later than Friday, 30 July 2021 to take advantage of this special rate. Of course, you are also welcome to organise your own accommodation, with many choices available within walking distance of the Pullman.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be made in writing to the Event Organiser.

No refunds will be issued after 3 August 2021. Any cancellations made after this date will be charged the full registration fee. 'No Shows' to the event will be charged the full registration fee. 

The event program is subject to change without prior notice.

Registration fees do not include insurance to cover loss of any fees/deposit through cancellation of your participation in the event or through cancellation of the event itself.

A full refund (less any unrecoverable registration costs) will be issued if the event is cancelled by the organiser (CSA) due to COVID-19 restrictions or any other reasons out of the organisers control.
