Prime Minister Addresses Christian School Leaders

25 May 2021

The Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, addressed over 300 Christian school leaders in the Great Hall of Parliament House last night (Monday 24 May).

The Christian Schools National Policy Forum has for nearly three decades brought together Christian school principals, board members, senior executives and other leaders each year in Canberra. The Dinner last night heard from Christian school graduates sharing of the positive impact of their Christian schooling experience. Dr Darren Iselin also presented the results of the Cardus Education Survey (https://carduseducationsurvey.com.au) which demonstrated the contribution of Christian school graduates to “the common good” of our nation.

Over 300 delegates representing executives from schools in membership of Christian Schools Australia and

  • Associated Christian Schools
  • Australian Association of Christian Schools
  • Christian Education National
  • Lutheran Education Australia

listened to the Prime Minister as he recognised that Christian schools are “not merely transactional places” leading to vocational outcomes alone, but “places where students are given the tools and framework to understand and engage with the world”.
The delegates took the opportunity to pray for the Prime Minister, as they do regularly for him and other leaders.

“Christian schools appreciate the support received from both major parties for fair funding for non-government schools”, said Mark Spencer, Director of Public Policy.

“Bi-partisan support for the rights of parents to choose Christian schools, schools that reflect their values and beliefs has been a foundation of our education system for many decades.”

“We value the time the Prime Minister was able to spend with us and his obvious interest in the contribution that Christian schools can make to our society”, he said.
