National Curriculum Symposium Health & Physical Education

Seeking Expressions of Interest  |  Postponed from 2021

This Symposium is aimed at key teachers and curriculum leaders of HPE or PDHPE (NSW) teaching primary or secondary in Christian Schools. We are seeking experienced writers of curriculum programs and units of work in the Christian school context using the God’s Big Story framework.

The HPE Symposium will be facilitated with delegates working in state groups, using an exemplar model, to produce creative and innovative units of work for HPE. We are looking at 4-5 representatives per state and only a total of 30 participants so you will need to get in FAST to participate.

About God's Big Story

God's Big Story (GBS) equips teachers in CSA schools with curriculum planning resources grounded in biblical worldview to address the Australian Curriculum. CSA initially developed a document known as GBS 1.0, which was further developed into the GBS 2.0 Primer and The GBS 2.0 Planner which is designed as a ‘how to’ guide for teachers who have engaged with the GBS approach.

A comprehensive Overview of God's Big Story has been prepared to assist navigating the suite of resources.

To accompany the GBS primer and planner documents, a suite of training modules and resources have been designed to further assist practitioners with the application of the GBS approach in their teaching programming and planning. Resources for teachers in Christian schools to develop programs for their specific teaching areas have also been developed in Key Learning Area (KLA) resources including English, HASS/HSIE, Mathematics and Science.

The Cross Curriculum Priority Areas of the Australian Curriculum provide an opportunity to assist teachers to plan from a biblical perspective across KLAs, engaging with some core themes for our culture. CSA partnered with Australians Together to develop a resource for the CCP of ATSI Histories and Cultures and Sustainability with Christian Heritage College. In 2021, Asia and Australia's Engagement with Asia will be released in partnership with Universitas Pelita Harrapan.
