QLD Principals' Retreat

QLD Principals' Retreat

All CSA QLD Principals and Deputy Principals are invited to attend this annual gathering of Queensland CSA school leaders for fellowship, community and professional learning. We have selected a relaxing and well-appointed venue such that colleagues might feel removed from their day-day pressures; we want you to leave refreshed and professionally stimulated.

The focus for the 2022 retreat will be on the recently released CSA Leadership Framework and will feature sessions facilitated by Andrew Taylor, Darren Iselin and Rob Loe. We will have a close look at the framework, including an exploration of the accompanying Developmental Rubric and the online Leadership Development Tool. We will explore how you can use the framework back at your school in areas such as performance and development reviews, professional learning for current and aspirant leaders, leadership selection, leadership induction and succession planning, and coaching and mentoring.

Speakers

Your Host: Andrew Taylor

Andrew Taylor currently serves as the Executive Officer for CSA member schools in Queensland and has over 30 years' experience in a range of leadership roles in education. He has spent the last 15 years focusing on building capacity in teachers and school leaders. Andrew leads the national portfolio for School Improvement and is an experienced school improvement consultant focusing on building strong foundations that underpin all school activities.

Guest Speaker: Dr. Rob Loe

Rob has been serving as the Executive Officer, VIC/TAS since May 2020. He has a background in teaching, school leadership and research. Rob believes passionately that a Christian school’s ethos cannot be divorced from the outcomes it seeks for its students (which must be more than academic). That ethos should make a deeply positive impact on the day-to-day lived reality of corridors and classrooms. It is the most powerful form of witness from a school. Rob has a national portfolio role that reflects his significant experience and research interests: Organisational Culture and Community Development.

Guest Speaker: Dr. Darren Iselin

Darren has extensive leadership experience within Christian education in both Australian and international contexts and has served in a wide range of CEO/executive and senior leadership roles within both K-12 schooling and higher education sectors. He is currently Director of Research and Innovation with Christian Schools Australia (CSA) and also is the Coordinator for the Cardus Education Survey Australia Project. Darren has completed extensive formal study, including doctoral studies through the University of Queensland where his PhD explored “How Principals are cultivating Sustainable School Cultures Within Christian Schools During Changing Times”. Darren’s thesis was awarded the Grassie-Basset prize for best thesis in Educational Administration from The University of Queensland and also won the Research in Educational Leadership Management Award from the Australian Council of Educational Leaders (ACEL).
