Presenter, Kate Halloran
Kate Halloran is a specialist child protection practitioner with nearly two decades’ experience gained in her roles with the Association of Independent Schools, the NSW Department of Education and Communities, the NSW Ombudsman Office, the NSW Department of Community Services and the NSW Joint Investigation Response Teams. Kate has 10 years’ experience operating at senior levels in both the government and non-government schools sectors which have enabled her to develop a thorough understanding of state and federal government child protection legislation and policy direction. Kate has represented the Independent schools sector on various child protection committees and joint works groups and has developed strong professional relationships with key stakeholders in government and non-government agencies. Kate has provided advice, support and guidance to heads of agencies when managing all aspects of complex child abuse and neglect concerns or investigating serious reportable allegations or historical sexual abuse matters. In addition, Kate develops and provides training and professional development to all levels of staffing in schools and other organisations. Kate’s area of interest and expertise is in supporting smaller organisations to navigate legislative compliance and safeguarding measures. Kate supports organisations to develop systems and structures that are meaningful to the organisation and its employees.
