SRS Plus Snapshot of Safeguarding 2022

In this 40-minute webinar, Halloran Morrissey will take participants through the current safeguarding climate which will include hot topics, tips, and a brief update on legislative changes. This session is suitable for any staff who have responsibilities for safeguarding in a CSA school.

This 40-minute webinar is restricted to CSA member schools who are participants of the SRS Plus service.

This interactive session, run by Halloran Morrissey, will provide participants with an update on information sharing provisions as it applies to schools and the role information sharing provides in safeguarding students.

Event Information

This event is FREE for CSA member schools in NSW/ACT who are participants of the SRS Plus service. Learn more about the SRS Plus service

This session is suitable for senior and middle leaders, who have a role in the safeguarding and wellbeing of staff and/or students in a school setting. The session is delivered online using Zoom technology.

The Zoom meeting information will be sent to registrants one day prior to the event.

Speakers

The course presenter will be either Kate Halloran or Clare Morrissey from Halloran Morrissey. 

Kate Halloran

Kate Halloran is a specialist child protection practitioner with nearly two decades’ experience gained in her roles with the Association of Independent Schools, the NSW Department of Education and Communities, the NSW Ombudsman Office, the NSW Department of Community Services and the NSW Joint Investigation Response Teams. Kate has 10 years’ experience operating at senior levels in both the government and non-government schools sectors which have enabled her to develop a thorough understanding of state and federal government child protection legislation and policy direction. Kate has represented the Independent schools sector on various child protection committees and joint works groups and has developed strong professional relationships with key stakeholders in government and non-government agencies. Kate has provided advice, support and guidance to heads of agencies when managing all aspects of complex child abuse and neglect concerns or investigating serious reportable allegations or historical sexual abuse matters. In addition, Kate develops and provides training and professional development to all levels of staffing in schools and other organisations. Kate’s area of interest and expertise is in supporting smaller organisations to navigate legislative compliance and safeguarding measures. Kate supports organisations to develop systems and structures that are meaningful to the organisation and its employees.

Clare Morrissey

Clare Morrissey has been working in child protection for over ten years. After working in child protection response roles with the NSW Department of Community Services, Clare gained extensive experience working with schools as an employee of the Association of Independent Schools of NSW and the NSW Department of Education and Communities in child protection roles. Clare has provided specialist advice and support to school leaders on managing child abuse and neglect concerns, investigation and management of serious allegations against employees, risk management, duty of care concerns, family law issues, employment relations and work health and safety. Clare also has significant experience in developing and delivering training and professional development courses in the area of child protection and investigations. Clare has a particular interest in assisting organisations to examine its child protection management systems using a holistic framework that extends beyond legislative compliance. Clare assists organisations to enhance safeguarding measures to become a meaningful child safe organisation.

Qualify for CPD Hours

Following the event, a statement of professional learning will be available to participants on their member dashboard.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be made in writing to the Event Organiser.

Where applicable, no refunds will be issued after 3 days out from the event. Any cancellations made after this date will be charged the full registration fee. 'No Shows' to the event will be charged the full registration fee. 

The event program is subject to change without prior notice.

Registration fees do not include insurance to cover loss of any fees/deposit through cancellation of your participation in the event or through cancellation of the event itself.

Where applicable, a full refund will be issued if the event is cancelled by the organiser (CSA) due to COVID-19 restrictions or any other reasons out of the organisers control.
