Appointment Announcement | Executive Officer, NSW / ACT 2022

14 September 2021

It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of CSA’s new Executive Officer for NSW/ACT, Ian Liney. Ian has accepted the position of Executive Officer and will commence in January 2022. Ian will serve CSA’s schools in NSW and ACT and ensure they are afforded personalised support and are provided with the resources and services they need to grow and flourish as Christian schools. In addition to his role with CSA schools, he will also assist in rolling our CSA’s strategic priorities in the areas of Leadership Development and Teaching and Learning. Ian will officially commence with CSA in January 2022; however, he will spend several days in 2021 undertaking a full handover with Cass Pendlebury, meeting key government and regulatory bodies and establishing a calendar of events and programs for NSW/ACT schools for 2022.

To support and engage with schools is a wonderful blessing."

Ian has spent the past 15 years as Principal of Wyong Christian Community School a K-12 school of 740 students in NSW. He has a very good understanding of the NSW registration system having successfully navigated 5 registration reviews and accreditations. Prior to this appointment, he was Assistant Principal at Marrara Christian College in the Northern Territory. Ian has also taught at Toongabbie Christian College in Sydney where he worked under Peter Hester one of the founders of CCS. Ian is also a qualified physiotherapist having worked in private practice and part of the NSW hospital system. Ian has completed formal study in theology at Moore College, as well as completed education and science degrees through the University of Sydney.

Ian is well known in NSW and ACT having served on the State Council of CSA from 2014 to 2020. He has also served on the National Council which saw CSA move to the Christian Schools Architecture approach, the development of a national secretariat model, and new SALT approach. When Ian joined the NSW State Council there had been much generational change and movement among the principal body. He was instrumental in forming a new team with good representation across the state and a focus on raising up and developing young leaders.

Ian says of himself:

"I would love to build on the foundations of relationships that have been laid over the course of my career and use these effectively in the Executive Officer role to further promote the cause and vision of Christian schooling in Australia."

Ian has extensive networks in Christian schooling and the education sector. He has been a central figure at all levels of Christian Education in Australia for the past three decades. Ian is passionate about Christian Education and knows how to bring out the best in others. He will use his broad school-based experience, practical leadership skills, and immense social capital to support the work of CSA, its schools and partners. We are sure you will make Ian most welcome as he joins the CSA team.
