Firm Foundations: Building on the Rock in Rapidly Changing Times

We currently lead Christian schools in uncertain and ever-changing times. There is an unprecedented shaking occurring in culture and society, requiring leaders to respond with great discernment, courage, resilience, and wisdom. In such a moment, Christian schools must remain vigilant and faithful to their core vision, identity, and purpose, whilst also being adaptive, responsive, agile, and innovative.

These twin priorities are vitally important as our schools enter significant seasons of change and disruption, with blueprints being passed from first-generation pioneers to the next generation.

To lead faithfully in a Christian school today is to recognise and reaffirm that our communities are built on firm, unshakable foundations, with Christ as the chief cornerstone of all we do — the solid rock upon whom we live and move and have our being.

This year's Summit will explore how we, as Christian school leaders, can live within the tensions between past and future, tradition and innovation, faithfulness and growth. We are called to be creative translators of vision and storytellers of identity, responding with fresh imagination and faithful innovation in uncertain contexts.

The Summit will also consider how leaders can wisely steward the past, with its “shoulds” and “oughts”; the present, with its “musts” and “nows”; and the future, with its “I wonders” and “imagine ifs.”

We invite you to join us as we revisit and reaffirm the firm foundations that have established our Christian school communities. Because these foundations are unshakable, we can also look ahead with confidence — imagining exciting new chapters of growth, change, and faithful presence for this generation and those to come.

Or, to put it another way, you are God’s house. Using the gift God gave me as a good architect, I designed blueprints; Apollos is putting up the walls. Let each carpenter who comes on the job take care to build on the foundation! Remember, there is only one foundation, the one already laid: Jesus Christ. Take particular care in picking out your building materials. Eventually there is going to be an inspection. If you use cheap or inferior materials, you’ll be found out” 1 Corinthians 3: 9-13 MSG
