At the recent Christian Schools National Policy Forum, speakers from different contexts and across Australia, and indeed across the Anglosphere, were asked to address the challenges of being Christ in an increasingly polarised culture. One of those we invited to speak was Dr Gordon Preece, Director of Ethos: Evangelical Alliance Centre for Christianity & Society. Dr Preece took us back to look at Paul in Act 17 and challenged us to look at the three Cs - Contextualization, Connection, Correction in our public discourse. This download contains an outline of his presentation.

CSA has now published its third important piece of national research on Christian schools that provides unprecedented understanding and insights regarding the parents that select Christian schools for their children. This comprehensive national study entitled Why Parents Choose Christian Schools: Christian Schools Community Profile Survey, involved 101 CSA Member schools from across the nation and collected data from 8,595 respondents. The survey investigated the perceptions and priorities of our Christian school families as well as their demographic profiles and the way they engage, support and interact with their school communities. This Report provides, for the first time, national trends, themes, and benchmarks that are unique to CSA schools across the nation. The survey was unprecedented in both its size and scope and establishes important national baseline data regarding parents’ values, spirituality, engagement, decision-making, levels of satisfaction and personal perceptions and engagement across CSA member schools in Australia.

Schools would be very aware of the increasing challenges to Christian schools around issues that were once matters of uncontested Christian belief. Courts and Tribunals are increasingly scrutinising the Christian doctrines and beliefs which underpin the operations of Christian Schools. The first document likely to be considered in this process is the organisation’s Constitution. You will not be able to retrospectively claim beliefs in the event of litigation that cannot be supported by your school Constitution. It is essential that you capture the key doctrines, tenets and beliefs on which the school wants to operate, as well as put in place the building blocks to ensure that you are considered to be a ‘religious body’ or ‘religious educational institution’. Our model constitution is designed for that purpose, to ensure that you have a strong foundation. The 2021 Model Constitution Toolkit contains - * Model Constitution for a Church Governed School * Model Constitution for a Community Governed School * Guide to the CSA Model Constitutions The Toolkit is in a compressed (zipped) folder. Updated 17 February 2021 (See Guide for details of changes)

What does CSA profess in relationship with Australia's first people? That we seek to develop more than just a narrative with our indigenous brothers and sisters. As First and Second Peoples, we strive to journey together, creating socially just and equitable relationships and listening to and learning from one another. This is why we are so proud of CSA's association with CAPS - Christian Aboriginal Parent-directed Schools. We support their staff and leadership team to deliver educational solutions, equipping their students to flourish in life in a manner and model that fits their context and needs. Asking the questions: Can we as Christian educators, go beyond the classroom, the teaching of lessons and model Jesus with real and authentic lives? Can we show caring and genuine practice as we meet our young people at their point of need? Encouraging them to build wellness, wholeness and resilience and encourage them to step into who they have been called to be?
