If you are a male leader, you are encouraged and welcome to champion Christian women in leadership by attending yourself and/or encouraging a female leader on your board or school management team or an aspiring leader to connect into this network.

Your Speaker: Thelma Perso
Thelma Perso has been working as Chief Education Officer with the Swan Christian Education Association (SCEA) in Perth, W.A. for the past 5 years. She has worked in education for over 40 years; twenty years as a Mathematics teacher and school leader followed by a similar time in senior public sector education positions in four states.? Some of her roles have included: Senior Curriculum Officer K-12 Mathematics, W.A; Manager of Curriculum and Curriculum Reform ACT; Executive Director Curriculum, Queensland; Executive Director Schools, Central Australia; Executive Director Literacy and Numeracy Taskforce, Northern Territory. Thelma returned to WA in 2015 following the passing of her father. She was deputy and principal at one of the SCEA schools prior to her current role with SCEA. Thelma is in the process of writing a book with Dr Graeme Cross titled ‘Gospel-Inspired Teaching and Learning’, which they hope to publish by November, 2022.
Your Speaker: Josh Counsel
Josh is passionate about seeing young people thrive and flourish by being engaged in learning communities that are authentic, relevant and relational. He sees schools and education as powerful vehicles to enact change and is particularly passionate about the role that Christian education has to form students into young men and women who will positively and powerfully impact our world. Josh is a member of the Australian College of Educators and the Australian Council of Educational Leaders. Josh is a husband, father and is currently serving as Principal at Discovery Christian College, a P-12 independent school in Agnes Water, Queensland.
Your Speaker: Sue Starling
Sue Starling has leadership experience as a principal, Dean of Education, author, presenter and consultant. Her research interest is curriculum and teacher confidence and she completed her PhD, Silent Rivals in Christian Education: A Shalom Perspective, at Flinders University in 2013. She is the Principal of Portside Christian College in South Australia and lives in the lovely Adelaide Hills where she is happiest in her gumboots.
Your Host: Jill Healey
Jill Healey is a passionate contributor to leadership development at Christian Schools Australia, serving as the Flame and Fuse Facilitator. Jill currently serves on two Christian school boards, is a Board member for Endeavour Ministries, as well as an active member of the Victorian Independent Schools BGA Board. Jill is a champion of Christian women in leadership and specialist education provision in Christian schools. She believes in the power of God to transform lives and bring hope to young people through Christian education.
