Aspire: Navigating the Path of Female Leadership

Are you an aspiring female leader who seeks to be equipped in readiness leadership success in a Christian School context?  

Then join with other aspiring leaders in this online course with 7 interactive sessions with expert guest speakers who will share their own stories, experiences and insights. This exciting new course will go beyond just identifying the problems, to providing practical strategies which women can control and have agency over. The course has a limited capacity to enable high levels of involvement and the building of connections and networks.

Event Information

Aspire: Navigating the Path of Female Leadership is a 7-session coaching series for women. Each session will run for 1½ hours and participants will be encouraged to complete reflective tasks between sessions. 

This course will be delivered virtually using Zoom technology and will take place on Wednesday mornings. Please refer to the dates and times below: 

Times of the event:

  • 11am to 12:30pm (VIC, TAS, NSW, ACT, QLD)
  • 9am to 10:30am (WA)
  • 10:30am to 12noon (SA)

Speakers

Your Host, Dr. Maria Varlet

Dr Maria Varlet is the Head of Research and Innovation at Crest Education in Melbourne where she heads up the Crest Institute. She currently serves as the Deputy Chair of the CSA National Council and is a member of the Advisory Committee for Casey Tech School. Maria is passionate about promoting and developing innovation in education with interests in future focused pedagogies, teacher professional learning, change management and the support of women in leadership.

Marg Mowzkco

Marg has a theology degree from Australian College of Ministries and an MA in early Christian and Jewish studies from Macquarie University. She wrote an award-winning thesis on deacons and Phoebe of Cenchrea. Marg has written chapters for academic books and many articles, and is currently working on her own book about the women associated with the apostle Paul. Her personal mission statements are: (1) “to be as close to God as I possibly can be, to be filled with the Holy Spirit as much as I can be, and encourage others to do the same,” and (2) “To be a Kingdom agent wherever I am.” Marg is active on Facebook and Twitter, and she blogs at MargMowczko.com.

Dr. Jennie Bickmore Brand

Dr. Jennie Bickmore-Brand is the Dean of Education and Academic Program Advancement at Easterm College. Jennie's career has largely been in the University and Higher Education sectors from South Australian and Western Australian universities, and Sydney Colleges in training from Early Childhood to Adult Literacy. She was recently commissioned by Australians Together to research how each of the universities across Australia prepare teachers to teaching Indigenous Australian students. Jennie is an expert reviewer with TEQSA (higher education program approval body in education qualifications). Jennie also works alongside leaders and policy-makers, mentoring them as they challenge the status quo and seek new solutions.

Dr. Beth Green

Dr. Beth Green is Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Tyndale University in Toronto. Dr. Green is a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts and a Senior Fellow at the faith-based think tank Cardus. Dr. Green has an international reputation for her expertise in religious school ethos; leadership and management; teaching and learning and social theory in education. She regularly publishes her empirical research in international journals, including the British Journal of Sociology and Education and the Cambridge Journal of Education.

Jennifer Argue

Jennifer Argue is Executive Consultant, Avenir Leadership Institute. Jennifer Argue has been an executive leader in the education sector for over two decades. Recognising that organisational culture is powerfully influenced by leadership, she is committed to developing courageous and compassionate leaders who create and sustain flourishing communities. She is regularly engaged as a coach and mentor to executive leaders.

Rev. Melissa Lipsett

Melissa is an outstanding Christian leader with a demonstrated history of working in non-profit organisation management. Melissa is currently serving as the CEO of Baptist World Aid. Prior to joining Baptist World Aid, Melissa served as CEO at Bible Society Australia and was instrumental in the growth of its global and missional reach over five years. Before that she was Executive Pastor of Newlife Church in Queensland, a community she served for nearly 20 years. Skilled in leadership, management of diverse teams and complex organisations, pastoral care and theology, Melissa encourages women to lead courageously and stand with confidence to be all that God has created them to be. Melissa is passionate that all those who call themselves followers of Jesus are called to partner in mission with God, for his glory and growth of his kingdom..

Shirley Reeder

Shirley is Director of Brave Consulting and has considerable experience in coaching and advising organisations in a variety of Leadership and Relationship Management issues. She works predominantly with CEO’s, their Boards and Senior Teams in the provision of strategic advice and coaching through times of change. As a trouble shooter, she assists teams to get back on track so they can focus on achieving their goals. Last year Shirey took a group of brave women into remote Nepal for the purposes of learning from and observing various forms of women in leadership. This was a life-changing experience for them all. Currently, Shirley is supporting a Christian Girls School in NSW, as they prepare young women to be ready for this rapidly changing world, equipping them to serve and shape HIS world in years to come.

Qualify for CPD Hours

Following the completion of Aspire: Navigating the Path of Female Leadership, a certificate of professional learning, addressing the AITSL Professional Standards for Leadership, will be issued and contribute 10.5 hours towards your professional learning.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be made in writing to the Event Organiser. Unfortunately, no refunds will be issued after 3 days out from the event. Any cancellations made after this date will be charged the full registration fee. 'No Shows' to the event will be charged the full registration fee. 

The event program is subject to change and we may not be able to provide prior notice.

Please note that registration fees do not include insurance to cover loss of any fees/deposit through cancellation of your participation in the event or through cancellation of the event itself.

A full refund will be issued if the event is cancelled by the organiser (CSA) due to COVID-19 restrictions or any other reasons out of the organisers control.
